Heritage Resources

Munroe East was part of the City of East Kildonan (incorporated July 1, 1957) when it became part of the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

Munroe East features one of the earliest residential developments on this side of the river, located in the west end of the neighbourhood; it was known as Morse Place and is located along Prince Rupert, Government and Moncton avenues. It features dozens of modest single family detached homes that were built before World War I. The vast majority of the remaining building stock of this large neighbourhood dates to the late 1950s and early 1960s.
