History of Dakota Crossing

Heritage Resources

Dakota Crossing was part of the City of St. Vital when it combined with surrounding municipalities to become the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

Except for a few properties along the Seine River, Dakota Crossing was entirely developed after 1970 and expansion and development continues today. The south end of the neighbourhood along the Perimeter highway is one of the area's newest developments. The neighbourhood also includes the Southglen Mobile Home Community in its northeast corner.
