Heritage Resources

William Whyte was part of the City of Winnipeg when it amalgamated with surrounding municipalities to form the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

William Whyte is one of the more complete residential districts in the North End. It includes many blocks of residential property - mostly in the form of modest, single family dwellings dating from the 1900-1920 era. Churches, recreational facilities and other community services are also found within its borders. Part of Selkirk Avenue, the centre of North End commerce is also found in this neighbourhood, as well as several blocks of the west side of Main Street.
