The Turnbull Drive area became part of the City of Winnipeg when it came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

This neighbourhood is located south of St. Norbert and the La Salle River on the west banks of the Red River. Besides the Provincial Heritage Park at its northern border, the neighbourhood includes single family residential property along both sides of Turnbull Drive. It also includes the southern gate of the Red River that regulates its level via the Red River Floodway.
