History of Burrows-Keewatin

Burrows-Keewatin was part of the City of Winnipeg when it amalgamated with the surrounding municipalities to become the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

Sandwiched between the Canadian Pacific Railway's Weston Shops and Inkster Industrial Park is the small neighbourhood of Burrows-Keewatin. The majority of single family dwellings in the southern portion of the neighbourhood were built in the 1940s and 1950s, although there are a handful of pre-World War I houses. In the north is the Willow Park Housing Co-op, a 200-unit housing development, which was the first of its kind built in Canada when completed in 1966.http://www.willowparkhousingcoop.com/

Shaughnessy Park is a large recreation centre located on the west side of the neighbourhood.
