History of Sturgeon Creek


Sturgeon Creek was part of the City of St. James when it became part of the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

This neighbourhood is filled mostly with single-family dwellings and is named for the important creek that runs in a south-easterly direction through the area on its way to the Assiniboine River. The neighbourhood includes commercial property along Portage Avenue and Ness Avenue, several schools and other recreational facilities.
