Heritage Resources

Riverview was part of the old City of Winnipeg when it amalgamated with the surrounding municipalities to become the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

Riverview is a mainly residential district that has grown slowly, with new housing being built every decade from the early 1900s to the early 1950s. Most of the oldest, pre-World War I building stock is found along Morley Avenue in the northern part of the neighbourhood, the newest homes were built in the southern portion. Commercial and multi-tenant property is found along Osborne Street, as is a fire hall and St. Mary's Cemetery.

The MunicipalHospital (now Riverview Health Centre), is located along the river in the eastern part of the district.
