History of Ridgewood South


Ridgewood South was part of the Rural Municipality of Charleswood when it became part of the when it became part of the City of Winnipeg which came into legal existence on January 1, 1972.

Ridgewood South features some modest residential development along Charleswood Road dating to the 1960s and 1970s and a large recreational complex, Marj Edey Park, is found near its eastern boundary. The Harte Trail, Winnipeg's longest linear trail and part of the Trans Canada Trial, is found along the northern border of the neighbourhood and was originally the right-of-way of the Canadian National Railway. [1]
